COURSE OBJECTIVE: To provide students with a comprehensive program that emphasizes development and strengthening of knowledge in reading, writing, speaking, and keyboarding skills. This course is designed to expose students to a variety of genre in literature and provide them with opportunities to practice and strengthen their spelling, vocabulary, grammar, essay writing, literary analysis, and typing skills. The curriculum for this course is intended to help students build a knowledge base of the concepts associated with art of literature.

GENERAL CLASSROOM CONDUCT:
BE RESPONSIBLE - Come to class prepared. Follow rituals and routines daily. Use class time wisely. Turn in work by the due date. Ask for missed assignments immediately upon return from absence(s) or, if an extended leave, file a work request with the office
BE RESPECTFUL - Treat all individuals and property with respect and care. Raise your hand and be patient. Listen attentively when others are talking. Put away classroom materials neatly where they belong. Always return what you borrow.
BE SAFE - No horseplay, running around, or throwing of objects. Push in your chair before leaving your desk. Report all dangerous activity immediately.

GRADING POLICY Grades are based on points earned from all assignments, worksheets, activities, quizzes, tests, activities, projects, notes, presentations, and class/group discussions.
Points will be converted to a percent score: 100 - 90% = A 89 - 80% = B 79 - 70% = C 69 - 60% = D 59% and below = F
Extra credit assignments will NOT be included in the curriculum of this course. Thus, it is imperative that students meet assignment deadlines diligently.
All students must log homework assignments in their HSN daily. HSNs will be checked and stamped/signed by the teacher daily.
All students will attend and participate positively in classes daily.Daily class attendance/participation (use of class time) will affect grades. Work missed due to absences must be made up in a timely manner. Students are responsible for requesting missed assignments.
All students enter class with an ‘A’. Each student chooses to keep this “A”, or change it, through their own effort and attitude.
